Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia
| Smith Mountain Lake is a 20,600 acre, 40 mile long lake located along the borders of Bedford, Franklin and Pittsylvania counties in the Southwest Virginia, Blue Ridge Mountain Region. The Roanoke and Blackwater Rivers are the main tributaries into the lake, which was created in 1966 by the construction of a hydro-electric dam located at the base of Smith Mountain in Pittsylvania County. Smith Mountain Lake is the largest man made lake in the state of Virginia. |  |

The lake abounds with trophy striped bass, black bass, walleye, and muskie, but finding them can be hard without the help of an expert.
